SoundCamp
SoundCamp is a series of outdoor listening events during International Dawn Chorus Day – organised by Maria Papadomanolaki, Grant Smith, Dawn Scarfe and Kirsty Collander-Brown.
These events invite listeners to sleep outside and investigate the sounds of unusual locations, especially at daybreak, by participating in overnight gatherings at multiple sites in the UK and around the world, including Stave Hill Ecological Park, Rotherhithe; End of the World Garden, Cornwall; South Walney Island, Cumbria; and Bridport, Devon.
As a platform for artistic and trans disciplinary work in the emerging field of live streaming audio, SoundCamp transmit REVEIL – a 24 hour radio broadcast that tracks sunrise around the globe, circling the earth and relaying live audio streams from collaborating artists, independent channels and other streaming media assembled for the event. For 24 hours the sounds of daybreak are strung together to create a long, live composition, a kind of clock.
