Creative Research into Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP) is a research centre of the University of the Arts London dedicated to the exploration of the rich complexities of sound as an artistic practice.

 

Our main aim is to extend the development of the emerging disciplinary field of sound arts and to encourage the broadening and deepening of the discursive context in which sound arts is practised.

Research Feature: Points of Listening

Points of Listening (PoL) is a monthly programme of listening workshops, activities and discussions based in and around London. Beginning in January 2014 it takes place every second Wednesday of the month. Events are held at London College of Communication (LCC) in addition to various locations, outdoors and indoors, throughout the city. PoL seeks to promote and investigate listening together: to perform a ‘musica practica’ of field recording, deep listening, remote listening, film listening, textual listening, listening to the audible, inaudible and more.

Member Profile: Irene Revell

Irene Revell, CRiSAP PhD student and curator whose work seeks out new contexts and connections for practices with challenging social and political implications. Much of her work since 2004 has been with the London-based curatorial agency Electra, where she was Artistic Director from 2011-15. She has been a member of the Cinenova Working Group, which oversees the running of the Cinenova feminist film distribution organisation, since 2006. She is the Visiting Curator for the MA Sound Arts, UAL, and previously Visiting Lecturer on the MA Sound and Image at University of Kent.
