Cathy Lane and Rosemary Butcher are artists in residence  at Critical Path Dance Agency and Campbelltown Arts Centre, Sydney, Australia. They are leading a practice based research project for choreographers and sound artists. The end result will be a film of the process which will be part of "What I think about when I think about Dancing" an exhibition running from 16 Nov 2009–17 Jan 2010 at Campbelltown Arts Centre, NSW. Automatic Writing Circle Collaboration

Thomas Gardner and the Automatic Writing Circle continue their collaboration with Taina Riikonen in a 2 day residency at the Sibelius Academy in Finland on the 21st and 22nd of September. The residency features improvisations by the Automatic Writing Circle and Ouija board followed by seminars discussing aspects of their work. For more information click here

Practice-as-Research – in Performance and Screen has just been published by Palgrave Macmillan and includes "Performing the Cinesonic-Gazetteer, Explorer Yarns and Sagas" by Cathy Lane and Cathy Greenhalgh. 'Gazeteer' was one of two sound and image works that resulted from a practice based research trip to Iceland in 2005.
The other work that resulted from this trip was 'Aftermath', a dance film made in collaboration with choreographer Rosemary Butcher. 'Aftermath' can be seen at http://vimeo.com/14859121. For further details click here

The Body Event Installation

The Body Event is a sound work for computer and voice made by David Toop in collaboration with John Latham in 2004. The Installation runs from 3rd to 6th September at FTI-Io, 210 Bellenden Road, London SE15 4BW. Preview 3rd September 7-9pm. Click here for more details.
Sound Escapes

24th July saw the opening of Sound Escapes, an exhibition of sound art, a collaboration produced by Electra, curated by Angus Carlyle and Irene Revell. The exhibition is on until 15th August at Space Gallery 120-131 Mare Street E8. Click here for further information.
Living Landscapes - Conference 2009

Cathy Lane and Angus Carlyle delivered a joint paper entitled "Listening to Landscapes" as part of a panel addressing the aesthetic, philosophical, ethical and ecological implications of capturing and evoking landscape through the medium of sound recording at Living Landscapes: an international conference on landscape, performance and environment. This AHRC Arts and Environment Programme conference was held at Aberystwyth University June 18-21st, 2009. For more details of the conference click here.

Taking Shetland out of the Box - Conference 2009
Cathy Lane delivered a paper entitled "Listening out for the Past: A Composer’s Ear-Led Approach to Exploring Island Culture Past and Present in the Outer Hebrides", as part of a biannual conference series that explores geographically and culturally, insular communities worldwide. The conference, entitled "Taking Shetland out of the Box: Island Cultures and Shetland Identity", was held at the Shetland Museum & Archives, the Shetland Islands 7-10th May 2009.
