Walk #1 , Peter Cusack – City Neighbourhoods and Communities / Stadt-Nachbarschaften und Gemeinschaften

CRiSAP Researcher Peter Cusack, Udo Noll, Martyna Poznańska, katrinem and Sam Auinger have created 5 different soundwalks in the Berlin district of Pankow to take place in April, May and June 2019.
A soundwalk is planned with the idea to listen while walking. Different streets and neighbourhoods have different sonic characters; individual buildings or places, such as industrial or park areas, have very specific acoustic qualities. Pankow ranges from Berlin’s center to the city edge. It contains residential areas, shopping streets, large green spaces, different communities, many types of architecture old and new, the river Panke and is crossed by railways, busy roads and flight paths to Tegel airport. It has a rich and varied soundscape.
You are invited to join the artists on the walks and explore Pankow’s unique sonic worlds. What is heard will be discussed en route and afterwards. Some walks are intended for small groups so will be repeated on several occasions.
Peter Cusack, City Neighbourhood and Communities (27 April)
This soundwalk covers central Pankow from the S & U Station to the Burgerpark. It moves from a busy transport hub, through shopping streets, quiet neighbourhoods and play areas towards the parks beside the River Panke for the natural sounds of springtime. There are moments of noise and of stillness. It will be possible to listen to sounds under water in the Panke.

Peter Cusack, Udo Noll, Martyna Poznańska, katrinem und Sam Auinger haben 5 verschiedene ortspezifischenSoundwalks für Pankow entwickelt, die in den Monaten April, Mai und Juni 2019 stattfinden werden.
Ein Soundwalk basiert auf der Idee beim Gehen zu- und hinzuhören. Verschiedene Straßen und Nachbarschaften haben ganz unterschiedliche klangliche Charaktere. Pankow erstreckt sich über ein recht großes Areal von zentrumsnahen Gebieten bis an die Stadtgrenze und vereint somit eine Menge unterschiedlicher Raumtypen. Wohngebiete, Einkaufsstraßen, große Grünflächen, unterschiedliche Kulturquartiere und Industrieareale verschiedenster architektonisch-historischer Prägung bieten ein reichhaltiges Spektrum für klangliche Entdeckungen.
Sie sind eingeladen, gemeinsam mit den Künstlern Pankows Klangwelten zu erkunden. Das Gehörte wird während der Spaziergänge und im Anschluss daran diskutiert. Einige Walks sind für kleine Gruppen konzipiert und werden deshalb mehrmals angeboten.

Dieser Soundwalk führt durch Zentral-Pankow – von S & U-Bahnhof Pankow zum Bürgerpark. Er bewegt sich von einem geschäftigen Verkehrsknotenpunkt, durch Einkaufstraßen, ruhige Nachbarschaften und Spielplätze zu den Parks entlang der Panke und den Naturgeräuschen des Frühlings.
