Acts of Air workshop

with Goldsmith's Sound Practice Research Unit (SARU) students

'Goldsmith´s Sound Practice Research Unit is delighted to invite you to this online workshop exploring scores and participating with artworks in the 'Acts of Air: Reshaping the urban sonic’ online exhibition.

This is an exhibition by CRiSAP that invites audiences to reshape their urban sonic present by enacting 14 sound works directly in urban spaces, anywhere around the world. Each work proposes a sounding out, a performance, a site-specific listening or engagement in the streets, under bridges, by water fountains and extractor fans - offering a variety of means to explore and interrogate our cities of sound.

In this 2 hour workshop we'll each enact one of the scores in our own local urban environment, and through discussion together we’ll explore the different approaches of the artists, the different conditions of our urban sound environments, and our choices and experiences of participating. Your contributions will be included in the exhibition’s online archive of ‘Traces’.

The session will consider approaches to urban sound, site specificity, digital participation and practice-based research.

Please have a mobile device with internet and headphones ready for the session, and be prepared to go outside to nearby public urban space to be able to perform these scores.'

Lisa Hall is a sound artist exploring urban environments using audio interventions and performative actions. Interrupting behaviour and questioning design, these works aim to make space for something new.
