South London Sound Art Festival

A festival of concerts, talks and workshops exploring the relationship between sound and place. Happening in various locations around Waterloo including IKLECTIK, Lower Marsh, Granby Place, Morley College and Old Paradise Yard this will be the first festival of its kind in the Waterloo area.
Highlights of the festival include outdoor installations and an exhibition with mixed and new media art, video and sound works. There are special performances at IKLECTIK and outside at Granby Place next to lower marsh. There will be a series of talks and performances by specialists about sound, art and politics, technology, environment and psychology. In addition, there’s a sound exploration workshop for kids throughout the weekend.
The programme includes;
- Ximena Alarcón’s Suelo Fértil [fertile Soil]: A Telematic Platform For Migrant Women, and Peter Cusack‘s Three Unnoticed Berlin Sounds in the exhibition at IKLECTIK until Sunday 9 July
- Iris Garrelfs, Cathy Lane and Emily Bick‘s talk and performance Political Aesthetics in Sound Art: Gender & Feminism, on Tuesday 4 July, 6 – 8pm at IKLECTIK
- Peter Cusack, Jean-Paul Thibaud & Aki Pasoulas’s talk and performance Sound & Spaces, on Thursday 6 July, 5pm at IKLECTIK
- David Toop, Leafcutter John & Blanca Regina’s performance on Friday 7 July, 8-11pm at IKLECTIK
